Storytelling
Storytelling workshops take many different forms, depending on the ages of the participants and the host organization’s goals. To achieve these goals, Lisa guides the participants through structured, age-appropriate activities. Some topics include: Telling Your Own Stories, Learning to tell Traditional Tales, Looking at Cultures Through Their Stories, and Creating and Telling Tales.
Whether the participants are engaged in listening, creating their own tales, or learning to tell traditional tales, these age-appropriate activities provide many opportunities for exciting learning experiences. These workshops are best suited for grade 2 through adult.

Drumming
Drumming workshops are most suitable for 4th grade through adult, although they are often requested for 2nd and 3rd grades. Lisa provides enough authentic, traditional West African instruments for all participants. After an introduction to the instruments, and some history, students are taught traditional polyrhythms and accompanying songs. There is also opportunity for students to cooperate in creating their own music. This workshop provides a rare opportunity for an excellent, hands-on, cultural experience that incorporates music, cultural, and historical information. |

Dance
Dance workshops focus on traditional community dances from Europe and The Middle East. These dances have been collected from many cultures: Greek, Breton, Rom, Israeli, Ukrainian, etc. Each dance is taught quickly and efficiently after which, the regional music is added to give the full feeling of the dance. In some cases, an entire workshop can be made-up of dances from one group, i.e. Greek, Traditional Women’s, or Children’s Dances. Experiencing a people through its music and dance is a wonderful way to connect, historically, as well as culturally. These workshops are most appropriate for grades 4 through adult, although they have been successfully presented to younger students. |
